April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking guitar and piano lessons at age seven. Her interest in creating songs was sparked. April Lockhart penned her first single"Different" when she was twelve years old. When she was 14, April spent much time writing lyrics and perfecting her musicianship abilities. After a while, she began to go on trips with her dad and write in NY as well as LA. April started to incorporate other relevant topics into the Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart is a popular figure and also works as a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. She was born with no left hand and that makes her unique. But this isn't the only aspect that makes her unique. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. But it also doesn't insist on her disability. The point? That we all contain multitudes and that we are all unique and that we are more than our physical selves. I do not want this to be the only thing that defines me. I don't wish to become a disability influencer where that's all I talk about because there are many different elements to me Lockhart says via video from her residence in Nashville. It doesn't impact my day-to-day living. I still do all the normal things and have adjusted to the limitations of my disability. But it's also a part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Lockhart has served as an excellent example to other women with regards to acceptance of oneself. Still, she admits that she went through a few phases in her body, and felt uneasy in some instances to wear clothing that displayed her arms. She wears what she likes and proudly posts pictures of herself in the outfits she wears on social media. For her, self-love is an extended journey. However, I believe that's the case common to everyone regardless of what they are struggling with. The people you surround yourself with that truly understand you and see through your eyes are the ones you should be relying on who can remind you of the things you're worrying about.
